The illustration was created for a book about old Russian dialects. The word "uhryat`" means steal away, escape. Two types of embroidery were drawn for the lettering to choose the most suitable one: cross-stitch.

References for the idea: frames inspired by Ivan Bilibin`s art, kokoshniks from Saint Basil`s Cathedral in Moscow, satin stitch and cross-stitch embroidery; Russian fairy-tale characters and dolls, that are escaping and symbolize the meaning of the word.

Thanks for watching!
