AEROSCHUP

ROBOTIC COMPLEX TO CLEANUP SEA BEDS FROM OIL AND PETROLEUM PRODUCTS



Together with specialists from Tomsk State University and JSC Obukhovskoye, a concept for the external appearance of the Aeroshup underwater vehicle for cleaning the bottom from oil products was developed. While the developers do not have the final details, all elements have successfully passed pilot tests. In collaboration with the development team, it was created concept design of the vehicle using existing fragments of the system. It serves as a visual demonstration of the project to attract attention to the problem of water pollution and to find funding for further developments.​​​​​​​

The scenario for using the complex includes several steps: first, a container truck delivers the equipment to the ship, then the container is unloaded on the deck, the Aeroschup underwater vehicle is rolled out and the cable-hose is connected. The Aeroschup is lowered into the water by an onboard crane. The vehicle sits on the bottom, powerful spotlights are turned on. 


An operator sits on the deck with a joystick in front of monitors, where a map of the bottom and video from the underwater vehicle's cameras are visible. The vehicle cleans the bottom, and a black oil mass flows heavily from the hose into a steel container (5 cubic meters) standing on board the vessel. After finishing work, the Aeroschup is lifted onto the ship, disassembled, cleaned and placed in a container.
