This visual study aims to identify mnemonic images in the works of Japanese calligraphers and to explore the potential connection between Japanese
calligraphy and mnemonic techniques.
The visual images that can be identified in calligraphic writing became the basis
for modern Japanese characters. It can be assumed that they were the means
by which artists memorized borrowed characters.
