The loft is an industrial style that took shape in the 1940s in New York. At that time, the country's economy was in decline: many enterprises were closed, leaving behind empty industrial premises. To use real estate for profit, the authorities decided to give buildings to the population.
Entrepreneurial residents of the city rented or bought industrial facilities to launch mini-production. People who did not want to get involved in business were remodeling the premises for housing.

From the closed enterprises, not only square meters remained, but also furniture - metal racks and tables made of rough, untreated solid wood. She became one of the characteristic features of the loft style.
