In this video, I decided to combine two universes that at first glance have no connection – the character Isaac from The Binding of Isaac and merchandise by Kanye West created in collaboration with Gosha Rubchinskiy.
The first scene shows Isaac wearing the hoodie. In the background, there are pedestals with objects that create a semantic bridge between the two worlds – a game artifact as a symbol of the original universe and a microphone as a reference to Kanye West’s musical context.
Behind the character, there are drawings that appear to be created by Isaac himself – naive, slightly unsettling images that reflect his perception of the world. Some of these drawings include visual elements referencing the aesthetics of Kanye West’s albums, creating a sense of overlap between two cultures.
As the transition approaches, Isaac becomes engulfed by an abstract form, which creates the visual transition between the scenes.
